TBI Installation Home

This is the Installation “Home” page and the links below cover every aspect of installing this kit through text, pictures and videos. It’s a lot to wade through but by doing so will eliminate most, if not all, of the problems encountered during installation. Getting the kit installed and the car running is truly “plug and play” IF, and it’s not even a big if…… IF these instructions are followed. While every aspect of the installation is important, pay particular attention to setting up the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and sizing the fuel lines.

This installation requires use of a Windows type laptop for data collection and final tuning. You should be familiar with basic computer functions or have an assistant with basic skills. The laptop only needs minimum capability and be able to send and receive emails.

As you can see, these links are organized by kit component to make navigation simple. If you have any questions, please check the FAQs and then review the installation section for the component in question. Most questions can be answered by using the site.

TR6 ECM mounting instructions

The preferred ECM mounting location is in the passenger footwell attached to the bottom of what looks like a shelf behind the windshield washer tank.

It’s inside, out of the weather, always dry, and easy to get at. I also suggest using the Velcro product noted below.

I do not recommend under seat ECM mounting- You’ll know what I mean if your car has ever been deluged in a rain storm with the top down.

Simplest way to mount it is with some of the new “snap type” Velcro (Snap type” Velcro Scotch. RFD7090)  This Velcro is similar to the stuff used to mount toll transponders to the windshield. No screw holes to drill and it snaps right out if you need to change a chip. Once it’s installed, you’ll probably never need to mess with it again.
